A Little About Us
CARRT meets as a team on a monthly basis. The following sub-
committees have been formed to further enhance the multi-
disciplinary approach:

  • Child Protective Services/Law Enforcement
  • Community Education
  • Family Violence
  • Fund Raising
  • Medical
  • Mental Health
  • School

The Team

CARRT creates policies-Agreements have been developed
among community agencies in order to ensure smooth delivery
of services. CARRT also advocates on a larger scale for
legislative changes in order to protect children.

CARRT offers Training- CARRT members provide cross-
agency training in addition to attending relevant trainings in
specialized areas in order to better meet the needs of
abused children and their families.

CARRT provides Community Education- CARRT has a
Speakers Bureau available to speak to community groups about
abuse prevention and response. Presentations are free of
charge.

CARRT Center

CARRT was awarded a $41,500 grant in December of 2005
from the National Children's Alliance, which has allowed the
creation of a center.

CARRT receives its primary funding through the State Office
of Child and Family Services. (OCFS)

The center provides a centralized, non-threatening, child-
friendly setting where services can be coordinated.

The center is designed to support the child victim and non-
offending family members in a comfortable setting during a
very difficult time.

The benefits of having a center are: reduced trauma to the
child, more immediate and complete investigations, enhanced
communication among CARRT team members and more
coordination of resources..

The center is also used for team members to conduct case
reviews.
CARRT is committed to:
  • Reducing trauma to child
    victims during the
    investigation.
  • Increasing the conviction
    rate of perpetrators by
    gathering better evidence
  • Improving collaboration
    among agencies to ensure
    better management of
    cases involving abuse and
    maltreatment
  • Providing ongoing
    training to service
    providers and the entire
    community
